28 Feb Diaper obsession
As Kris will attest, I’ve been on a diaper mission this week. Up until now, we had been using a combination of gdiapers and disposable diapers. However, when faced with some harsh facts (see below), I decided to switch 100% to cloth and flushables. I found some great cloth inserts that fit inside the gdiapers and have been investing in several one-size-fits-all cloth diapers to round out our stash.
Here’s what grabbed my attention:
>> Traditional disposable diapers containing plastic take 300+ years to decompose in a landfill
>> The average kid will go through 5,000+ diapers before s/he is potty trained
>> Cloth diapers save hundreds, even thousands of dollars over time, especially if you have more than one child
Here’s a great article about all the benefits of cloth, including a breakdown of the energy/water required to launder cloth diapers versus the environmental cost of disposables.
Of course, I’d be lying if I said I was only into cloth diapers for environmental reasons. The truth is, they are so dang cute and fun to use!! Check out how happy B looks in one of her new Blueberry cloth diapers!
